Karen is based in Edmonton and currently splits her time between her architectural design business, KTA Design Consulting and her Art practice.

Pleine Air is her preferred drawing and painting environment and accounts for the fresh and reactive response to the landscape in her work.

Seeing beauty and possibilities in objects unvalued or discarded she is often found collecting leaves and bits of unappreciated scraps of nature and discarded man made items to utilize their qualities and create something new. She sees things not as they are but what they could be. It is the excitement of unlocking possibilities weather it is through painting, metal smithing, stained glass or a combination of materials.

Karen’s strength lies in her love of process, exploration and ways and in her love of sharing her thoughts and skills with others. This way Karen creates new works of art which continue to delight and amaze us.
